I think this is one of the most haunting images I have ever scene. Not just because of its content but because it was taken by a Nazi soldier who thought that this moment was worth preserving. He wrote on the back “The last Jew in Vinnitsa”.
This photo provided by Paris’ Holocaust Memorial shows a German soldier shooting a Ukrainian Jew during a mass execution in Vinnytsia, Ukraine, sometime between 1941 and 1943.
